Mid / Senior Data Analyst

Berlin
Full-time
Permanent employee

Company

Founded in Berlin, autarc is a ~40 person start-up who were part of Y Combinator's S24 batch in San Francisco. Our team consists of people in Sales, Tech and Operations, with the Engineering & Product department currently ~20 people, as we continue to grow throughout the year.

Role description

You'll be our first full-time data hire. You won't start from zero. We already have a solid foundation of dashboards and tracking in PostHog. Your job is to take ownership, fill the gaps, and scale this into a function that serves the entire company. You'll own our North Star metrics, present them to the company weekly, and make sure every team has the numbers they need to make good decisions fast.

This role sits across the entire company. You'll work with Sales on pipeline and conversion metrics, with Marketing on acquisition and attribution, with Engineering on product usage and feature adoption, and with Ops on service delivery and efficiency. You'll help each team define their KPIs, set up tracking in PostHog, and hold them accountable through weekly check-ins.

You'll also be the go-to person for ad-hoc requests like a Sales lead needs a quick cohort analysis, the CEO needs investor-ready metrics for the quarterly board deck, Engineering wants to understand a drop in activation. You enjoy these requests rather than resenting them.

Other things you'll do will include:
  • Own and present company-wide North Star metrics on a weekly basis
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports in PostHog, pulling in data from our app API, Stripe, Intercom, and other tools
  • Support Sales, Marketing, Ops, and Engineering in defining, tracking, and hitting their KPI targets
  • Run weekly KPI check-ins with team leads to drive accountability
  • Handle ad-hoc data requests from across the company
  • Prepare quarterly investor metrics and board reporting
  • Automate recurring reporting and analysis workflows using AI tools (Claude, Python scripts, PostHog automations)
  • Identify patterns and opportunities in our data that no one is asking about yet

Requirements

  • 3+ years for Mid-level or 5+ years for Senior of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a similar role
  • Strong SQL skills. You write complex queries confidently and quickly
  • Comfortable building dashboards, defining metrics, and presenting insights to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working across multiple teams (Sales, Product, Engineering) in a fast-paced environment
  • You actively use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to speed up analysis, automate reports, or generate code
  • Self-starter mentality. You're comfortable being the only data person and figuring things out independently
  • Berlin-based, hybrid 3 days in the office (Mitte)
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus)

About us

Right now, 25% of CO2 emissions in Europe are caused by heating our buildings. In order for this to be reduced, the transition towards renewable energy needs to be simplified and made more accessible. There are too few installers to meet the growing demand for heat pumps, and a solution to match this trend needs to be brought to the market.
autarc is developing the leading operating system (OS) for heat pump installers, enabling a more digital and efficient installation process for heat pumps.
Through this, autarc is reducing the hurdles to decarbonizing single-family homes and small apartment buildings in Europe, with the goal to help with the planning and designing of 1 million heat pumps by 2030.
